Wooden canoe & kayak show

Posted by Bruce Olson on Apr 30, 2004

I am a member of the Ohio River Paddlefest 2004 development committee and I have volunteered to get the word out about our first, annual wooden canoe & kayak show. Paddlefest 2004 is the largest paddle party in the Midwest. Although we are just heading into our third year, we have grown from approximately 500 - 600 paddlers in 2002, to 1000 paddlers last year and expect to have 1500 - 1800 paddlers participating this year. The Coast Guard shuts down the Ohio River at Cincinnati for the hours of 7 AM to 12 noon to afford uneasy paddlers a remarkable experience. The six mile downriver run is accompanied by several amateur and professional races with a finish line party at Cincinnati's Riverfront, Serpentine Wall. I have included a web link for you so that you can learn more about the event. If you would like to receive more specific information regarding the wooden canoe and kayak show, you can e-mail me at the listed address or e-mail the Ohio River Way Paddlefest address http://www.ohioriverway.org and click on the Paddlefest link after entering the site. If you do e-mail me, be sure to put PADDLEFEST in the subject box so you don't get deleted with all spam I receive every day. Please check OUR web site for all the information.

Thanks, Bruce Olson
