Re: hull glass

The glass will stick to either bare wood or epoxy covered wood. I sanded the bare wood to 220, then wet it out with a damp cloth to raise the grain, and sanded once more lightly with 220, which gave me a reeaaaall smooth finish. Be sure to vacumn & dry wipe your hull well before glassing. (don't wet it again, as you'll just raise the grain again.) Your final varnish/paint finish is only as good as your bare wood finish. The hull glass I applied glass direct to bare wood. The deck glass I applied to epoxy covered wood because I applied an onlay, and had a few coats of epoxy on to level everything out. I also sanded the epoxy below the glass to 220. If you're worried about the fairing sucking up the epoxy, go ahead and coat it. my 2 cents worth and that's only 1.5 cents US. cj
