Paddling get together

I am looking in to building a kayak and I spoke with one of the sales person for Chesapeake.

He was telling me that a few people were going to get together and paddle somewhere in Texas I am assuming it would be in Austin, I live half way between Houston & Austin.

Can someone shine some light toward me?
