I know that the CLC-14 kit is designed with hatches that are proud of the surface, but I hate to ruin the beautiful lines of the kayak. Has anyone made hatches that are flush with the deck? If so, what tips can you provide?
Lots of people have. CLC even sells a kit for invisible hold downs for flush hatches. The Shop Tips have a section describing how to install flush hatches using toggles to hold them in place. There's also a section for invisible hold downs.
