OkoumeFest Update

Wow!  As of today, we've got 125 signed up for Friday, and pushing 300 for Saturday.
We're sending most of the following as an email to registrants.

Friday is all set;  everything you need to know is here.  So here's the scoop on Saturday:

Getting There and Parking:  On the OkoumeFest page (and down below) we've added a detailed map of the Matapeake facility for Saturday's activities.  [Larger Image Here / Printable PDF Here]  Coming from either the western or eastern shore, you'll take Route 50 to Exit 37, which is Route 8 / Romancoke Road.  Head south on Route 8 for 2.4 miles and take a right on Marine Academy Drive.  Follow our map from there. (The Park is new, and Google's map is outdated, alas).  There will be OkoumeFest signs.

On the map we've labeled three parking areas.  The earlier you arrive, the closer to the beach you get to park! We'll have an attendant on hand to help with parking.

If you're bringing boats, you'll unload your boats in the horseshoe next to the Matapeake Cafe, then return to park in the designated areas.  The tent camping area is next to the horseshoe.

Food:  Speaking of the Cafe -- you can download a menu here and even order ahead.  Pre-ordering lunch may be a good idea if the turnout is as high as we expect.  Call 410-643-2509 to place an order before Noon on Friday.

Or you can grab lunch from one of many nearby spots on Kent Island.  We've assembled a few on this Google Map.

What to Bring:  Bring your own paddles and life jackets if you have them.  We have lots but expect to wait, as we expect heavy attendance.  Beach chairs and other fun-at-the-beach gear is encouraged.

Maybe an umbrella?  I'm not going to try to predict the weather.  The event goes off rain or shine, of course, so come prepared.  We'll have to bring the factory boats off the water if anything really ugly comes out of the sky, so please conduct your preferred ritual for bringing good weather!
