17" Kayak - Figerglass hatch covers?
hi there. making good progres on this rescue.
Question, the two precut hatch covers that come with the boat kit, what think? Fiberglass these?
It would be easier and maybe a nice design treatment to not glass them and paint them but thought I'd toss it out there.

The glass makes them more durable. It absolutely doesn't prevent you from painting them. In fact, once you fill the weave with either unthickened epoxy or phenolic microballoon/epoxy mix and sand it smooth, you'll have a very nice stable surface for paint, actually better than bare wood.
