Kayak under deck fiberglass - bulkhead fit
I'm building a Shearwater Sport and getting close to attaching the deck to the hull. It occurs to me that with fiberglassing the underside of the deck it's thicker now than when it was dry fit.
Does it not affect the fit of the deck to the bulkheads? It seems like it should but I've never seen it mentioned so probably not. I'll dry fit it one last time just to make sure.

RE: Kayak under deck fiberglass - bulkhead fit
Interesting question. I did not put fiberglass cloth on the underside of my deck. I don't think the Sectional Shearwater Sport manual calls for it. At least I didn't do it. But I can't see how it would add enough thickness to matter. The weight is more significant, perhaps.

The plans called for the fiberglass, and it fits fine.

Did not seem to any effect on my shearwater 17. Of course if it does, a little sanding the bulkhead down will fix everything.
