Puzzle joint taped to wrong side?

I epoxied the puzzle joints of my side panel (WoodDuck Double) and have realized my epoxied tape over the joint will end up on the outside of the boat.   Oops.   Should I tape the inside of the joint and then sand off the outside fiberglass tape?  Sand smooth and let the additional draping of fiberglass cover the tape?   1st build with a nice learning curve....i'm sure this won't be my first mistake.  Fun stuff.

RE: Puzzle joint taped to wrong side?

You can either sand it or use a heat gun to soften the epoxy and then pull off the glass, your choice.

Leaving the tape on is also an option, just be sure to sand the edges down before you put the glass cloth on. With careful fairing you can make the slight bump almost invisible. This option works best if you're going to be painting, instead of varnishing.

Have fun,

I just made the same mistake on the WoodDuck 12. How high a temperature does the heat gun need to reach to remove the glass strip?

No more than 140 fahrenheit or so.
