Footbraces for the forward position?
A set of oars fitted for the forward position (7 footers would be the same proprtions)?
If both mid and forward postions are manned we get a bow-down trim?

RE: Rowing the Skerry
I built a simple removable stretcher for the front rowing station out of scrap cedar. It has a notch that fits around the front of the dagger board box.

My understanding is the forward rowing station is used when you have a passenger on the stern sheets, for better fore-and-aft trim. The standard oars should work well enough for that. You can add footbraces if you envision rowing from that position often.
