Extra Layer of Tape

I'm glassing the hull of my Ches. 18 and was wondering about adding a layer of tape over the glass along the keel line, for a little extra strength. I have already doubled up at the stem and stern. Good idea or not worth the extra work or weight? Thanks for the help.
