Coaming position

A question more for the CLC planners...when I'm installing the coaming on my CH 16, should the front inside edge of the coaming be somewhat even with the back edge of the deck beam thus the coaming spacers rest fully on the deck beam?...I'm just making sure I have the deck placement right defore attaching. I was a little confused when the cockpit opening came so far front of the rear bulkhead.
