Local plywood

Posted by Mike D on Nov 10, 2005

I am working on flush hatches on the WR18 in the shop and it looks like I will run out of deck trimmings before I run out spacer and lip requirements.

Rather then piecing tiny bits of 4mm together I would really like to find a locally available (Big Box) plywood to finish the job without ordering a 4 X 8 sheet of Okume. Of course there is the infamous Luan but I'm a little afraid that if I used it for the seal lips it might not hold up to a knee on top of the hatch.

Any input from anyone who is willing to reply would be greatly appreciated - expert or not.

Thanks and happy building, MD
