I second all of Howard's comments and add that lacquer thinner is the preferred solvent for getting out all the bad stuff.

As Howard said, you want to restore the surfaces back to the way they were before the resin was applied.

With lacquer thinner, you want to work outdoors, with eye protection and strong, solvent-proof rubber (not latex) gloves.

With the residue of unactivated epoxy resin cleaned up, the prognosis is for a full recovery.

No bonfires this time.
