Not a bad idea.
I do like the idea of having solid hatch covers.
Your idea of using the ribs is great becuase it is lighter, and gives a perfect place to attach bungy cordes to.
What do you attache the bungie cords to inside your boat ?
My problem is that I already have 2 spacers glued in place. I guess I could put a thicker seal in, or I could put a thickener on the hatch sill.
As I think about it, 2 spacers are = to the thickness of the hatch. If you add in foam, the hatch will be above the deck.
