I think there's a German kayak company that makes cold molded racing hulls with glass/carbon and a thin wood veneer core,,but it's a compound hull shape. Here's a good example of what folks do to get a racing kayak that weighs less than 30lbs,,or a race/touring kayak that weighs less than 40. I often wondered about making a cold molded kayak with bending plywood for a one piece hull with tortured/cut ends bringing it together. 5oz carbon on the inside and 4oz s-glass on the outside. With external and internal frames you could get the plywood to bend into a shallow arch, ditto with the deck. Carbon coaming ala One Oceans Cirrus.
