Fiberglass this Weekend
Posted by Michelle Moran on Sep 23, 2004
Thanks for the replies re: finishing off the surface prior to fiberglassing. I followed everyone's suggestions and hope to have everything well enough sanded to actually start fiberglassing this weekend. I've been reading up on fiberglassing. I think I have the basic ideas down. (Of course, I've thought that before and been wrong, but gotta learn sometime...) What I'm not clear on is the timing between coats. If I'm understanding correctly, one wants a chemical adhesion (vs. what other kind of adhesion?) between coats. Also, within a certain time period, you don't have to sand between coats which can only be a good thing. The highs are supposed to be in the low to mid 60's this weekend. What kind of timing should I be looking at between coats. Also, do I do anything special to clean the surface prior to fiberglassing? How about between coats?
