I agree with Mac. Get that stuff off the best you can. At least off the spars. The spars will take a real beating and would do best with just epoxy and varnish. Brightsides is hard enough that it will chip and not hold up all that well on the spars. Would look awfully pretty though at first!

If you sand the hull down to almost bare the primer will be left filling in the low spots. At that point you can paint away with the Brightsides. No other primers needed. If you just gotta prime then use the Interlux Barrier Kote primer (2 part) on the hull. It is tough stuff. I have it on my sailboat.
