Hatch camber
Posted by Joe Lombardo on May 3, 2004
For some reason my hatch won't stay epoxied to the curved wood that forces the camber. I've tried twice. The first time, I waited 24 hours, but we were having a little cold spell and I should have waited a little longer.
I was able to press some "schmoo" into the gap that formed between the curved wood and the hatch cover and clamp it down. This time I waited another 24 hours in warmer conditions. I removed the clamps and it started to seperate so I quickly re-clamped. Another 24 hours later I removed the clamps and it worked.... for a couple of days.
Should I try to cut the hatch completely free from the curved wood, sand everything down and try again? Should I try to squeeze some more thickened epoxy in the gap and clamp a third time?
Thanks in advance, - Joe
