This footbrace and rudder control assembly includes ergonomically designed, two-part foot pedals that offer significant advantages over anything else on the market. Unlike other systems, your feet don't slide back and forth to steer. The lower half of the pedals is locked in position so you remain in a solid brace at all the times. Steering is accomplished by minute pressure from your toes to the top half of the pedals. Even while seated, pedal position is easily adjusted for different users. Pedals cannot be accidentally dislodged and the track design prevents sand build-up.
You may purchase just the Toe Pilot footbraces to retrofit an existing rudder, or a complete footbrace-and-rudder combination. The complete footbrace-and-rudder combination includes the rudder housing, cool rudder wedgie, rudder blade, footbraces, cables, cable housing, instructions, and hardware. The Smart Track's rudder is foil-shaped to prevent stalling and decrease drag. NOTE: The "Short Pin Mount" option is for kayaks without a transom, or a flat stern. These include the Chesapeakes (except the Sport Tandem), Shearwaters singles, Night Heron, West River, Arctic Hawk and Mill Creeks. Some boats may need stern modification. If you plan to use the CLC rudder mount, we suggest using the "Long Pin Mount; tell us which one you need in the notes field on your order. The "Stern Mount" option is for kayaks with a transom. These include the Wood Ducks, Pax, Shearwater Double and Sport Tandem. Choose from Single "Sgl" or Double "Dbl" rudder options.
