Anton,

It may be heavy, but since you don't have to carry the whole thing at once it seems to me that you have a net gain in convenience.

Multi-piece kayaks sound like just the thing for otherwise healthy people who can't carry the full-sized ones due to injuries, stature, etc.

I'd definitely be interested in your construction photos and I'm sure others would be, too.
