Dave, The deck will lose some of it's curvature. I found I lost roughly half when I built my Shearwater. The temporarily wired together hull & deck and spot welds are more to give you the proper distance that you will need later between the two to re-create the curvature. The spot welds will prevent it from going completely flat. Not too hard to get the curvature back when you re-install the deck for the last time. Be sure to use a roll of T.P. on the underneath of the deck to soak up that very heavy epoxy. One coat of epoxy is all you need.
