you are putting the epoxy on WAY too thickly. You should be putting on fairly thin coats, using preferably a squeegee.
Then use a scraper to get rid of any little bumps.
And yes- you can patch in some glass and feather the edges- you'll more than likely see the edge, but few others will ever notice, particularly on the bottom.
