So another issue has arisen. I've found where my sanding has exposed the weave of the glass there are many little tiny holes that are only visible, it seems, when the sanding dust fills them up and the turn white. They shouldn't be the result of outgassing, but whatever the cause, they are there. Should I sand them on down? I then risk the above stated problem of getting down to the wood...

Grrrrr...
