I've got a couple of articles out on how to strengthen and paddle from the core, as well as pointers on how to tell the difference between true and faux rotation.
One article is in the April 2006 issue of MetroSports/New England Sports, as well as the June 2006 issue of Michigan Outdoor Athlete.

If you find that your elbows and wrists hurt at the end of the day but your stomach muscles aren't sore, chances are you aren't paddling from the core. Maybe some of the above stuff will help.
