I'm not sure what you mean by an epoxy sealer. It's fairly important to have the glass go on bare wood. Some do it other ways, but the consensus among bulders seems to favor this approach.
I've had little or no problem with bubbles as I always try to epoxy in the afternoon in the garage, or in a basement that has a fairly constant temp. Problems seem to arise when one epoxies bare wood in rising temperatures.
