I come from a whitewater kayaking background, so I don't know what is standard for sea kayaking, but for whitewater, we always 'double-bagged' our sleeping bags. As in- you put two largish plastic bags inside the sleeping bag stuff-sack, and the stuff the sleeping bag into that. Then tie off the inner bag, then the outer, then do up the stuff-sack. That way, whatever happens, your sleeping bag will be dry. NB:- don't do what one friend did, and use perfumed garbage bags!
