Liquid Compass Question
Posted by Mac on Nov 23, 2004
Hello Folks,
I've also sent this question off to Suunto, but thought I'd get a more practical response here.
What is the liquid in a marine compass, and what is the approximate freezing point?
I plan to remove the compass in the deep dark cold of the Canadian winter, but am still paddling with ice at the shoreline and water freezing on the deck.
I'd hate to plow into and sink a laker in the St Lawrence Seaway, because my compass was frozen. (Don't laugh, I have a VERY sharp prow, I'm VERY heavy, and some of those lakers are VERY rusty).
Thanks...
