Frank and Greg are right, as the kids grow, the pram will get crowded. Still, for the weight, it's a good choice, as it may just be light enough for you to handle without a trailer. The Sass 16 weighs more and would not be as stable as the pram (but certainly more elegant). The pram is also a very easy and fast build (my first build as a boy was a pram, and I was even more incompetent than I am now).
The skerry is indeed a nice, larger and more versatile boat in the long run, but at least 90 lbs. - trailer weight, unless you have two strong backs to get it on/off the car roof. For slightly more weight and probably the same build time, you could also consider the new Chester yawl, an elegant and fast rower in the best traditions.
