you are doing everything right,,getting out and paddling. There's a variety of collateral handling attributes that can come with a "fast,maneuverable kayak" depending on how one gets to "fast, maneuverable". You can have two hulls with different dimensions and different rocker that are both "fast, maneuverable" but handle wind/waves very differently. I hear there's a WR16 in the works, maybe someone will paddle it with an Avocet, Squamish or Tempest 165 to see how it compares to what people can get in plastic nowadays.
