JP, I understand you clearly. But watch out for the decks "twist" as it goes from the tighter radius in front the to the gentler one in back, and keep the backing plates clear of the sheer clamps.
I think it's a fine idea, and it's what I'd do, most likely, if I ever bent a sheet of plywood into a deck on a long yak (it wasn't a problem on my MC13s).
Mischa, I agree with you hearing "don't do it" if it is your first build, and you posess insufficient other experience to enable you see clearly past the plans and instructions. It's just plain wise!
