Steve is right....take it to the river. I ran across a submerged rock in the Potomac on Sunday, put a 3 foot scratch down the bottom of the hull. Folks at the take-out at Point of Rocks didn't notice at all, commenting on how pretty the varnished mahogany is.

Paddling is way more fun than painting and sanding.
