We stand in awe of Neil Calore, a firefighter from Philadelphia. Sailing a stock Northeaster Dory, which he built in a class at CLC, he won Class 4 in the 300-mile WaterTribe Everglades Challenge. Most said it was the hardest-ever running of this endurance race. Having sailed a bit of that route ourselves (including getting filtered out of the 2001 edition), we can say without reservation that human toughness is the biggest factor in success---and clearly Neil is a tough cookie.
