The WoodenBoat School

Brooklin, Maine

In business for almost 40 years, the WoodenBoat School's sprawling campus fronts on Eggemoggin Reach and Penobscot Bay.  Students stay in a beautiful old farmhouse, enjoy family-style meals, and after class may avail themselves of a classic fleet of wooden smallcraft on the waterfront.  You are surrounded by wooden boats at every turn, and the pastoral beauty of Brooklin helps explain the literary inspiration of Brooklin's most famous resident: wooden boat enthusiast and writer E.B. White.  The nearby Blue Hill Fair features in his "Charlotte's Web."  Take a video tour.

Come to Brooklin and you'll understand why 60% of every class comprises returning WoodenBoat School alumni.

Chesapeake Light Craft

Annapolis, Maryland

We've been holding classes at our Annapolis factory since 1998.  Heated, air conditioned, and completely equipped, in our classroom we've turned out hundreds and hundreds of boats.

Founded in 1694, Annapolis is the home of the US Naval Academy and was briefly (1783) the capital of the United States, and many of the buildings from that era survive.  Annapolis calls itself the "sailing capital of the world" and the fresh Chesapeake Bay seafood is delectable.

We're excited to be offering build-your-own-boat classes in the Pacific Northwest. Hosted by the Center for Wooden Boats, you'll build boats in CWB's brand-new Bill Garden Boatshop, part of the sparkling new Education Center in Lake Union Park. It’s a beautiful glass enclosed shop in the heart of Seattle’s booming South Lake Union neighborhood. We’re in a public park directly facing a host of rapidly growing Amazon skyscrapers. Check out the video.

Spaulding Marine Center

Sausalito, California

The center was built in 1951 by San Francisco Bay Area legend, Myron Spaulding. Myron purchased the property and started Spaulding Boatworks where he built his own designs and helped to maintain many other private boats in the bay. Many of his boats are still active on the West Coast, and his design drawings are housed at the National Historic Maritime Museum.

Spaulding Marine Center continues today to benefit the community and offer both youth and adult educational programs.
