double-checking internal footbrace placement

Friends,

Per the instructions, the internally mounted footbraces are to be located 2" below the sheerline, some 38" forward from the aft bulkhead. That places them a mere 1" below the bottom of the sheerclamp. Looks awfully tight to me (and I have small feet).  Am I missing something? 2" below the sheerclamp's bottom looks better to me.

Sugestions/observations appreciated,

John

RE: double-checking internal footbrace placement

what are you building?

RE: double-checking internal footbrace placement

To clarify; I'm building a Chesapeake 16LT.

RE: double-checking internal footbrace placement

Before I put the deck on my shearwater 17 I sat in it and found the most comfortable position for the foot braces

RE: double-checking internal footbrace placement

My ch17 says  2" below sheerline but the adjustable footbrace instructions says 2" below sheer clamp. I am sure the latter is correct.                  Good luck, Pete.

Thank you all,
