joining plastic to wood

can I join polycarbonate or acrylic to wood using fiberglass tape and epoxy? I want to substitute for the bottom panels for either a flat bottom canoe or something similar

Why? A good pair of polarized sunglasses will let you see in the water and they will last a lot longer.
