mounting stud for foot pegs need moved
I have an older Cape Charles kayak that I refitted with a rudder. Unfortunately I didn't epoxy in the mounting studs quite far enough forward and need to move them. Is there any way to do this without damaging the finish on the outside of the kayak? The only way I know to remove them is with heat and I am afraid of causing damage to the wood or the finish. Any ideas wouod be apreciated!

Or, cut off the existing studs, smooth the stumps so that no one gets hurt (Dremel is great for both operations) and glue in new ones in the right place.

Not having done this myself, but seems the heat should do it. To protect the outer finish, maybe lay some cold wet rags over the exterior. Flip the boat up so the cold rags just lay in place and they should keep the finish intact I would think. Be judicious with the heat ;)
