I had a 30 lb Minnkota on a 10 ft Walker Bay dinghy and it worked very well. I later went to a 50 lb thrust and it didn't go much faster, only more water turbulence by the stern. I think the 30 lb motor reached hull speed. I had just one medium sized 12 v battery and I would cruise around for a half of day and still have plenty of reserve battery. Speed, maybe 5 mph. Nice and quiet!
