sanding primer and sanding paint

Some Quick questions for the forum:  Is it ok to use the random orbital sander to sand down primer?  My plan was two coats primer and then sand...is that the standard?

When I get to sanding the actual paint, is it okay to use a random oribital for wetsanding?

RE: sanding primer and sanding paint

You should remove almost all of the primer except that which fills the dings and scratches, so use your RO, change the paper frequently, and sand between coats. For finish coats, a vibrator sander works better, or hand sand. -Wes

If anyone is going to be wetsanding with an electric sander, be sure your life insurance is paid up.

I must admit that the thought occurred to me regarding the wetsanding and electrical sanders...

That occured to me immediately after I posted my comment, but I figured it was too obvious. I have found that wetsanding a paint like Topsides is neither necessary nor desirable. -Wes
