Eastport prim skeg protection with metal strip

Hi everone,

My plans is to used the Eestport prim maining for fishing with electric motor. I will be painting white for mimimum maintenace.

I want to proctect the skeg and skids with metal strips.  I could not find anything on forum.

Has anyone done that?  I was thinking about stainless steel.  Looks is not important beasue the boat will smell like fish. lol.  Has anyone done that to the skeg and skids? Please advise.

Thanks in advance.

I believe that CLC sells some brass half-round stock that can be used for this or rub rails.  I put a long stainless steel rub strake from West Marine on the skeg of my EP, bent the tip to wrap around the aft edge a bit and screwed it in place.  It's worked great.  I'm doing the same to my PM.

I have bought a half round brass strip for the skeg but not sure to use it because it's a bit heavy. The shop told me to bend it carefully. Drilling the holes for the screws after bending it. Otherwise you get ugly curves.
