Filleting joints....

Posted by Joe M on Dec 14, 2007

As I prepare to order and begin my first build (ches 16LT) and as I accumulate the other things I need along the way, I am reading all I can on building and from some other boards, I am noticing a lot of people put down a coat of unthickened epoxy (they call it a saturation coat) along the joint before they fillet the joint.

Seems the people who do it have a lot of experience with glass and do it to help guarantee the best bond they can get.

I suppose I can understand the reason for doing it, also for not doing it.

Wondering what the concensus is here, since it will be a CLC boat I will build. Do most of you saturate the wood before laying out the fillet or do you just fillet the wood clean and dry?
