Yes, I want it to be VERY tough, but I also want lightweight. I am shooting for between 35 and 40 pounds for an 18' kayak.

The technique for wetting out heavier satin glass is thin epoxy, warm temps, rolling on small batches and looking hard for bubbles. Also I am less concerned about the appearance of this kayak than it's strength and lightweight. I almost went with an Arctic Tern 14 for reasons of lightweight, be I paddle with some fast paddlers and I also paddle in strong tidal currents. Last week we had 5.7 knot current in my favorite paddling spot. That can be very limiting in a kayak with a low hull speed.

Terrible twos? I found it starts around 1-1/2. Ours are 1-1/2 and 2-1/2. It is the best terrible that I have ever experienced.
