The prevalence of strong endpours in thousands of extant wood-epoxy kayaks explains why reported instances of damaged ends are so rare.

I'd wager my Fein Sanding system that if we changed the manuals, the first 100 boats built without endpours would start reporting damage and water incursion at the bow and stern.

"If it never breaks you're probably building it too strong." There's something to that. But endpours are just easy and quick and with only a half-pound of weight in the balance we're going to err on the side of making it strong and easy to build.
