End Game (Pour)

Posted by Lloyd on Dec 1, 2004

Fingers crossed, Another picture

I'm including this looking for a little dialogue on end pours.

My first end pour was bad .. broken dam, rags, etc. I'll show you later.

The next two boats we did the end pours by tipping the boats on end (see picture).

I note that in "Kayaks You Can Build" (Have you seen it yet?)the author did not have a dam break but did not like the expanding epoxy flowing out.

I had that same problem on my second pour on my boat.

In the attached picture you can see evidence of the expanding epoxy on the open surface of the pour, but I don't think this causes a problem.

The only thing I could think to worry about was that the heat could cause some weakening of the bow or stern joinings of the panels.
