Last 6" to one side

Posted by Lloyd on Jul 25, 2004

In the last few inches of my keel the keel line departs from straight by about the width of one of the plies or perhaps as much as an eight of an inch.

The interior fillets are in place.

I know that the first test will be to see what happens when I paddle it in a few weeks. Perhaps I'm not a skilled enough paddler to know.

This creates some rudder effect.

I could take most of it out by squaring of my stern as I sometimes see done for a rudder.

Or I could build the area up with fiberglass and epoxy to cancel the effect.

Any experience with deviation from perfection at this level?
