I'd second the thing about stitching the ends of the bilge panels together first, then lining them up on the bottom panel such that they extent about the same distance over each end of the bottom panel. when all was said and done, it seemed to me like I had one or two extra inches of bilge panel at each end. A builder could cut it off, but I chose to just draw the ends together extra tight to close the gap. The process is pretty forgiving - it's just wood!
