Painting the Hull

Posted by Joe Deets on Jul 6, 2004

Dear CLC- I've been painting the hull of my CLC West. 180 with Brightside one-part polurethane paint. Unfortunately because of the color, yellow, I've had to put on many coats, 15! The hull is now a solid yellow but it is just a bit on the rough side. I could just leave it as is but I would like to have as smooth a finish as possible (as good as a varnish finish), but I'd rather not put on yet-another coat of paint. A craftman friend who makes fine furniture suggested I try 000 steel wool, but I am afraid of dulling the finish. Do you have any suggestions on this idea, or any other? Thanks!
