Re: fitting bulkheads

I'm not Chris, or even real close... but I *am* famous for sticking my nose in where it doesn't belong.

I always like to preach about locating bulkheads for yourself, and not for some designer who must accomodate anyone and everyone... after all, this is no production boat. Of course, the rear bulkhead location stays put, and if the original article refuses to fit, just make another out of any old cheap plywood and make it right.

Place the forward bulkhead to where it needs to be in order to accomodate you, plus maybe 4" or so extra. This way - if your legs are shorter than Abraham Lincoln's - you reduce the cockpit flooded volume while gaining foward compartment bouyancy (or stowage) volume.

Just my usual two cents...

Cheers, Kurt
