Surform vs Plane compared
Posted by Chip Veres on Apr 2, 2004
Ladies & Gents:
First I tried a Stanley Surform "plane" on my sheer clamps. Broke 2 blades and became disgusted whilst doing 1/3 of the job. Cost $22.
Then I got a Buck Tools 6-1/2 inch block plane and a Norton carborundum stone to go with it. Made a sharpening guide from a scrap 2X4. Cost $16. Finished the job in little time with no agrevation. The plane offered by CLC would be better yet due to its finer adjustment for depth-of-cut.
