I've used my Wood Duck 12 quite a bit for a year, and the keel has taken quite a beating on submerged rocks. The bottom is painted, and I'd like to repair and strengthen the areas that are taking the hits. I'm assuming I should just lay one or two additional steps of fiberglass tape/epoxy along the keel. A couple of questions:
1. Do I need to sand off all paint in the area to be repaired(used Brightside polyurethane).
2. Should Iook for something stronger, like a kevlar tape?
Thanks

Yes, sand the entire area that you plan to reinforce down to clean epoxy.
You could use Kevlar but it'd be a lot easier and more cost-effective to use a couple of layers of 6 oz glass or some 4" wide 9 oz tape.
