Skerry - aft seat fit - strange "stepped" pattern

I'm dry fitting the seats in my Skerry and they all seem to fit very well as cut by the factory, with no modifications needed.  Except the aft seat which has a strange "step in" cut into the last 8 inches or so on each site that causes a 1/2-inch gap between the seat and the hull.  It seems that it would fit perfectly without this "step."  Am I misunderstanding something or do I just need to create an enormous fillet here?

RE: Skerry - aft seat fit - strange "stepped" pattern

Good question.  I'm trying to remember running into such gap when I'd installed the aft deck and have no memory of it - thought that doesn't mean it wasn't there.

I remember there being a gap there that got filled with large fillets. I have no idea if there's a better way to do it.  Might be able to shave down the slots the bulkheads fit into if the tip isn't touching the fillets behind it.
